To overcome the steep grades and sharp curves of the mountainous Uintah Railway, the Baldwin Locomotive Works built two massive 2-6-6-2 locos, numbered 50 and 51. Unlike European Mallets, the Uintah locos did not re-circulate steam between the drive units. However, they were articulated, and they served extremely well on the difficult Colorado-Utah route. When the Uintah Railway closed in 1939, the Sumpter Valley Railroad in Oregon purchased both locos (see LGB 20892) .

You can add the Mallet´s power to your layout with this LGB model. A faithful replica of Uintah No. 50, the model has two Bühler motors in separate drive units for excellent traction on any LGB or G scale layout.

• Shourt Line SL 9880511 Real Water H2O Pulse Smoke Generator uses Water (H20), no more smoke fluid needed, with axle Synchronized smoke puffs and chuff Sounds, can also be added to cylinder steam, blow down and whistle steam synchronization!
  • Shourt Line has developed a water based smoke generator because of the adverse health effects of oil-based smoke fluid.
  • They use of water in place of the smoke fluid for real steam and smoke generation is a new product and uses no fan, no heater, and no smoke fluid, but instead creates up to 24-inch puffs of smoke (water vapor) for wheel synchronized puffs to synch to the chuff sounds.
  • An ESU decoder option can be used for wheel to smoke and sound chuff synchronization.
  • For Locos running on analog power or battery power the smoker runs on 5 volts DC, so it works on low voltage and at slow speeds.
  • A large volume of water is stored in the boiler tube and is pumped, on demand, to the H2O smoke generator under the smokestack and other areas steam is desired. It run for up to two weeks on one water filling.
  • The H2O based smoker system requires installation by our service dept.
